We're a family owned business where quality counts
Ron Spies' father started the company in 1933. Ninety-three years on, Ron is CEO, Erik Spies is President and Landon Spies is the fourth generation to join the same Fond du Lac painting contractor: commercial and industrial painting, epoxy floors, media blasting and a shop that will take anything mobile, from structural steel to boat bottoms.

The company is founded
Ron's father opens Spies Painting. The family has been painting at Lakeside Park for over 70 years, starting on pulley systems long before boom lifts.

Four kinds of work leave the Spies shop, and every one starts with preparation. Pick a service to see how the crew handles it, from the first blast to the last topcoat.
Off the shop floor
Fleets, floors and facilities, finished by the same crew.
A fire engine, a polished bulk trailer, an ice rink and a fabricated steel platform. Every photo here is Spies work. The coatings on the shelf come from Sherwin-Williams and Hallman Lindsay.

Named job · 2026
The lighthouse their family has kept painted for 70 years.
The Fond du Lac Lighthouse went up at Lakeside Park in the early 1930s, about when Spies Painting did. In 2026 the crew wrapped up repainting it again, working from boom lifts where the company once used pulley systems.
“It seems more like an honor than anything... Just seeing how happy people are when they turn and see the result.”
